Maryke is responsible for the coordination of committee-tasks related to research within SU, as well as management of the interface between SU-researchers in the Human and Social Sciences and funding agencies like the NRF.

The committee responsible for research within the Human and Social Sciences is Subcommittee A (.pdf). This committee was established as a subcommittee to the Research Committee (.pdf) and provides support and annual funding opportunities for researchers in the Human and Social Sciences.

One of the largest funding agencies for research in the Human and Social Sciences is the National Research Foundation (NRF). The Division of Research Development acts as the central contact between individual researchers in the Human and Social Sciences and the NRF. This includes co-ordination of all applications of funding and evaluation, as well as feedback and reporting within NRF Programmes:

NRF Thuthuka programme, and US mentor programme for Thuthuka grantholders.
