• Stellenbosch University is home to three of South Africa's seven DST Centres of Excellence and ten Research Chairs of the South African Research Chairs Initiative.
• More than 200 of our staff are NRF-rated researchers, the second highest number in the country with the highest figure for the human sciences.
• More researchers from diverse backgrounds (including women, people of colour and persons with disabilities) received support from the NRF's Thuthuka programme than most other institutions.
• The quality and range of our research outputs are amongst the best in the country.
• We are one of the forerunners in SA in establishing partnerships with industry through the government-supported THRIP programme.
• Our success at knowledge and technology transfer is reflected in a number of commercial research contracts and the establishment of spin-off companies.
• Our success in securing research grants from government agencies and industry contracts also illustrates the research capacity of the university.
