REPELSTEELTJIE!!!

8th ANNUAL BUYA SCHOOLS THEATRE FESTIVAL

13 to 17 MAY 2013

The eighth annual Buya Schools Theatre Festival will run from Monday 13 to Friday 17 May 2013 in the H.B. Thom Theatre, Stellenbosch. The Festival presents audiences with an outstanding array of young talent. Some 5 groups perform each afternoon from 16.00 onwards. The schools and youth groups are drawn from the greater Khayelitsha area, with some representation from Kayamandi, Lwandle and the Boland.

Although the dialogue is largely in IsiXhosa, the plots are well set out and with the aid of excellent dance and song, language is really not a huge factor. Audiences will be astounded by the wide range of themes and the unbridled enthusiasm shown by these budding artists. You are cordially invited to spend the week or just an afternoon in the pleasant surrounds of the H.B. Thom Theatre - entirely free of charge.

The public are also more than welcome to attend the Awards Ceremony on Saturday, 18th May from 10.00 onwards. The ceremony includes a short guest performance along with a discussion on matters relating to drama and theatre in schools.
