Welcome to our department

The Department of Sociology and Social Anthropology is a large and dynamic department encompassing two distinctive but related disciplines, that of Sociology and Social Anthropology.

We enjoy an excellent reputation as a centre of expertise in the teaching of Social Theory and Research Methodology within and across both disciplines.

The Department offers separate majors in Sociology and Social Anthropology at undergraduate level and a range of discipline-based programmes at post-graduate level, from Honours through to Doctoral studies. We also offer postgraduate programmes in Social Science Methods.
