The opportunity for 20 students selected from the University of Stellenbosch to collaborate with 20 national and international students in support of the Entrepreneurship and Empowerment in South Africa (EESA) program. Course participants will gain experience in business consulting and mentoring whilst making a difference in the community. They will also obtain an International Entrepreneurship Certificate. The EESA program is registered at NQF level 8.
It is a hands-on course focused on entrepreneurship, mentoring and business consulting. This initiative by the University of Stellenbosch, Department of Business Management integrates the three focus areas of the University: education, community development and research.
Course participants work in teams and are provided the opportunity to assist emerging entrepreneurs from Stellenbosch and the surrounding areas in analyzing the strengths and weaknesses of their business by means of the Creativity, Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) Support Model. Key focus areas include the financing of a business, marketing, operations, accounting, resource development, sustainable economic development and intercultural skills. After a series of consulting engagements, teams help emerging entrepreneurs to develop action plans in order to improve their business operations.
The course is presented by entrepreneurship specialists from the University of Stellenbosch and Cornell University.
