New application
Two review processes:
1. Full committee review
· Clinical Trials, PhD studies, and more than minimal risk studies
· Submit at least 2 weeks prior to an HREC meeting. See Meeting & submission dates
2. Expedited Review
· Undergraduate, Masters and minimal risk studies
· May be submitted at any time - FINAL DEADLINE: 30 October 2013
· Review can take between 4-6 weeks depending on availability of reviewers

HOW TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION FOR CLINICAL TRIALS:
1. 2 hard copies of full application
• Submit to Elvira Rohland, room 5008, 5th floor, teaching block
AND
2. 1 electronic copy of full application
• Submit in one email to ethics@sun.ac.za
• Submit the protocol and any other documents created in Microsoft word as either word documents or .pdf files
• Submit supporting documents as individual .pdf files
e.g. one .pdf file for the application form, one .pdf file for the checklist,
one .pdf file for each declaration letter, one .pdf file for each CV, etc.
• Submit a scanned .pdf file of each signed document
