I was born on 17 September 1969 in the northwest of China, and enrolled in ShiHeZi University Medical College in September 1988. I received my Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Medicine in 1993. From October 1993 to June 1995, I worked at the General Hospital of the XingJiang Coal Mine in China as a general doctor and took part in specialty training in their Ophthalomology Department from July 1995 to February 1998. My training was continued in the Ophthalomology Department of the Air Army 474 Hospital from March 1998 to February 1999. In October 1998 I wrote the examinations in Ophthalomolgy at the Public Health Bureau of Urumqi City, XingJiang, China and qualified in Ophthalomology in November 1998. I then worked as a ophthalomologist, and received my Doctor's Licence in Ophthalomology in February 2001. I was invited to work on the following projects: Action of Operation on Cataract in order to Recuperate Eyesight, in the International Red Cross from April 1999 to July 1999 and for the XingJiang Red Cross from November 1999 to December 1999 and from April 2000 to May 2000.
At the end of November 2003, I came South Africa to work at the Stellenbosch University Faculty of Health Sciences, first in the Department of Community Health and then as a research assistant in the Division of Medical Physiology, Department of Biomedical Sciences.
