Ruduwaan obtained his BTech. at the Peninsula Technikon in 1986, after which he did his Honours and MSc at the University of the Western Cape.
He joined the MRC in 1989, where he ran the confocal microscope facility. In 2000 he joined the Division of Medical Physiology in the Department of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Stellenbosch, where he is currently doing his PhD on beta-adrenergic preconditioning in the rat heart under the supervision of Professor Amanda Lochner and Professor Johan Moolman.
Ruduwaan was promoted to MRC Senior Scientist in May 2005.
