education :: MSc in Medical Sciences with Rehabilitation as the Major field of Study
Admission:
For admission to the MSc in Medical Sciences with Rehabilitation as the major field of study, a student shall hold an appropiate Bachelor's with Honours degree of this University or another degree approved for such purpose by the Senate.
OR
Hold the MB, ChB degree;
OR
Hold a four-year Bachelor's degree in an appropriate health field approved for such purpose by the Senate.
OR
Have in some other manner attained in his particular field of study a standard of competence deemed adequate for such purpose by the Senate.
Thesis Assignment
A student holding an Honours degree in the major field of study concerned shall submit a satisfactory thesis.
A student holding an MB ChB or a four-year Bachelor's degree shall, for not less than two years, pursue an approved curriculum of research/advanced study, pass the prescribed examinations and submit a satisfactory assignment.
Mode of delivery of programme:
Structured programmes:
The structured MPhil / MSc (Majoring in Rehabilitation are Internet based programmes. Students come to the Campus during 1st year of registration for a 2-week orientation block. Some aspects from Module 1 and 2 will be addressed in the form of workshops including some orientation to the Stellenbosch University Web-Vista Internet mode of programme delivery.
Again in the 2nd year of study for two weeks students will be in Campus for workshops on Module 3 and 4. These two visits during the two-year study period are compulsory.
Masters by Thesis:
From time to time until completion of the Thesis students will be interacting with lecturers through visits to the Campus where possible, telephone discussions and feedback via Internet.
