Human Nutrition at Stellenbosch University was inaugurated on 8 October 1991 by the then Rector, Prof Mike de Vries. Human Nutrition functions autonomously within the Faculty of Health Sciences on the Tygerberg campus and, since its inception, has been involved in pioneering work in the training of dietitians and other health professionals as well as in service delivery and research. This Division consists of 45 members, who are structured according to their expertise. Employees are involved in education and training, in therapeutic and community care, food service administration, consultancy, specialised nutrition support, research, as well as administration.
