Division of Rheumatology
The Division of Rheumatology in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at the Stellenbosch University is largely an outpatient based service. Pathologies ranging from fibromyalgia to the vasculitides are assessed and treated. It is supported by an up to date immunology laboratory and imaging services. There are rehabilitation services and sound social support available. We are actively engaged in teaching both pre and post graduate students. Outreach is provided in the West Coast region by Dr. Piek based at Paarl Hospital.

- Teaching at both under and postgraduate levels.
- Aspects of Systemic Lupus Erythematosus including the genetics, survival and cytokine interactions.
- Serology in Rheumatological diseases, especially Rheumatoid arthritis.
- Inflammatory myopathies
