neurosurgery :: Clinical Service
The clinical service essentially is run from the Tygerberg Academic hospital. The division provides a comprehensive general Neurosurgical service.
Highly specialized services include:
- Cranio-facial Surgery as a part of the Cranio-facial unit that is run under the headship of Prof F Graewe (Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery)
- Pituitary Surgery in conjunction with the Neuro-endocrine unit of Prof S Hough and also with ENT surgery (Dr G Kroukamp)
- Neuro-endoscopy.
Weekly/Monthly meeting with other role players include:
- Neuroradiology meetings weekly
- Neuro-endocrine meetings monthly
- Neuro-onlogy meetings monthly
- Cranio-facial meetings monthly
- Morbidity and Mortality meetings weekly
- Neuropathology/ Forensic neuropathology head injury meetings monthly
