FHS Annual Academic Day once again a success

The Faculty of Health Sciences' Annual Academic Day (AAD) was recently held at Tygerberg Campus and well supported by University and Faculty researchers, staff and students and the general public.

A total of 288 abstracts, compared to last year's 212, were received. This included 136 posters, compared to last year's 103. AAD proceedings consist of a poster session of Community Service and Interaction projects followed by 13 parallel sessions and state of the art lectures spread over two days. This year the guest lecturer was Sir Iain Chalmers, the editor of James Lind Library, Oxford. The title of Chalmers lecture was "Avoidable waste in research".

Winners were chosen in each session in categories of Best Oral Presentation, Best Poster and Best Young Researcher.
