APS (Adherence and Psychosocial Support)

The table below summarizes the scope of S2S's APS menu of supportive capacity building activities. Program areas and activities are prioritized based on the specific facility challenges and needs, site attributes, and available human and commodity resources:

Support provision of APS services

Adherence and psychosocial support: Development of comprehensive psychosocial and adherence program, MDT approach to adherence support, education, behaviour and support, client adherence tools, pharmacy procurement support.

Improve quality of life: support the provision of appropriate psychological support to HIV-exposed and HIV-infected children targeting effective counselling and paediatric disclosure.

Provision of and adherence to treatment: provide ART for all HIV-infected infants and eligible children, appropriate paediatric formulations, CTX prophylaxis, ongoing treatment adherence support.

Client Follow-up, linkages and referrals: community linkages, client follow-up systems, and client follow-up programs.

Care of the Caregiver: Intervention as part of HCW capacity building efforts at site level. The PACE curriculum aim to develop and support HCW teams and foster the skills that enhance their capacity to work effectively and remain engaged in their work, motivated and healthy, while working in an environment that is often physically and emotionally demanding.

Monitoring and evaluation systems: improve/maximize use of existing adherence and psychosocial HIV related health information, increase use of site level health information to make program and clinical decisions, support linkage between patient data recording and technical/management tasks/procedure, improve quality and completeness of patient related information, improve information filing system
